Serra Backlit Quartz Column Table Lamp with Linen Shade

Lighting is the layer most rooms leave until last. The Serra is the piece that rewards doing it first.

A single column of natural stone, lit from within. By day it reads as sculpture — a quiet rectangle of veined stone on a slim brass plinth. By night the column glows from the inside, and what looked like surface pattern becomes depth. Above it, a wide ivory linen drum shade throws a soft, even pool of light downward, so the lamp lights the room and itself at the same time.

Choose your stone

Every column is cut from a natural block, so the figuring is never repeated and no two lamps are the same. Four stones, four very different rooms.

• Rose Quartz — soft blush pink shot through with milky white crystalline fracturing. The most striking of the four when lit, and the rarest to source.
• White Quartz — cloud white with the faintest grey drift. The quietest option, and the one that settles into a pale room without asking for attention.
• Travertine — warm beige with fine horizontal banding. Reads architectural and earthy rather than precious.
• Calacatta Viola — creamy white cut through with violet and deep plum veining. Theatrical by day, and extraordinary backlit.

Choose your metal

The cap and plinth are solid brass, hand finished in one of three ways at no difference in price:

• Lacquered burnished brass — warm antique gold, sealed so it holds its tone rather than patinating
• Bronze — darker and quieter, for timber joinery and deep-toned rooms
• Polished nickel — cool bright silver, for pale, monochrome and coastal schemes

Where it works

At 760mm the Serra is scaled for a bedside table, a hallway console or either end of a sideboard. It is tall enough to read as a statement in a large bedroom and heavy enough at 17kg to feel permanent. A pair either side of a bed is the way most of our clients specify it — the backlit column gives you a soft night light without a second fitting, and the linen shade gives you proper reading light above it.

Natural stone is at its best between 2700K and 3000K, which is exactly where the Serra sits. Put it on a dimmer and one lamp does both jobs: bright enough to read by, low enough for the last hour of the evening.

Made to order

Size, stone, shade and metal finish can all be adjusted. We can scale the column for a taller bedhead, cut a matched pair from the same block so the veining relates, or source a stone you have seen elsewhere. Lead time is confirmed in writing with your quote, before you commit to anything.
