Tallira, formerly The Rug Collection, is an Australian rug house with showrooms in Melbourne and Sydney and almost two decades of experience in handmade rugs. Its designs balance expression and restraint, bringing colour, pattern and texture into a room in a measured, refined way, and every rug is made to be lived on. Handmade in 100% wool

The Tallira rugs we carry are made from wool, the most resilient rug fibre there is. Wool springs back after foot traffic, naturally resists stains and is flame resistant, which is why these rugs suit busy family homes, dining rooms and light commercial spaces as comfortably as bedrooms. Most are around 17 to 18 mm thick for a generous, cushioned feel underfoot. You will find hand-tufted designs such as Viper, with its cut and loop pile stripes, the fringed Diva in ten colourways, and the curved Olympus and round Zeus; the hand-knotted ivory Napoleon; the handwoven Moroccan-inspired Heras; and Neptune, whose high and low pile carries a silk-like sheen that shifts with the light.

Sizes, colours and choosing the right rug

Most Tallira rugs come in 200 x 290, 250 x 350 and 300 x 400 cm, with a 250 cm round in selected designs, which covers the majority of living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms. As a guide, choose a size that lets the front legs of every seat sit on the rug in a living room, and allow at least 60 to 70 cm beyond a dining table so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. Colourways run from warm Golden, Ochre and Honey to Fern, Mangrove and Olive greens, inky blues and soft ivories, so there is a Tallira rug for calm neutral schemes and for bolder, layered interiors alike.
